The Retreat is tastefully furnished & decorated in a comfortable and casual southwestern style. It has beautiful red tile floors throughout the house. The Arizona Room is great for a family gathering area with ample seating for watching TV or movies or just admiring the views of the surrounding mountains and gardens. The living room has a fireplace. The large dining room has pleasant views of the patio and the 'country kitchen' is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, and service for eight. From the dining room you step out onto the patio where you can sunbathe, entertain friends or enjoy glorious sunsets while watching resident birds and other wildlife settle in for the evening. 'Roadrunner' is just a short distance from year round habitat for rare and exotic birds...one of the most exciting spots for birding in the entire country. The Nature Conservancy Preserve beautiful scenery thrives with unique riparian wildlife bred by the Sonoita Creek. The creek just a few short block from the 'Roadrunner' is home to some of the world's best bird watching and the oldest Fremont Cottonwood tress, some 130 years old and towering more then 100 feet. More then 300 bird species have been signed in the Preserve and several unique hummingbirds and butterflies.
Explore the richness and diversity of this setting Coronado National Forest and the surrounding areas offer year-round recreation opportunities for all energy levels. In addition to the many hiking and biking trails, you can visit the local wineries in Sonoita and Elgin and the surrounding ghosts towns. Visit Patagonia Lake State Park just a short drive from Patagonia where you can fish, swim or boat. It is a great way to spend a day with friends and family. It's hard for some folks to image but Arizona has about a dozen wine regions and the Sonoita/Elgin area together with Patagonia is one of the premier spots. With an elevation of 5,000 feet & soil that's been compared to Tuscany, the area features five vineyards as well as several under development. Some of the vintages have received flowing reviews. The 3rd weekend in April is the Annual Blessing of Sonoital Vineyards Festival, October is the Patagonia Fall Festival and November is the annual 'new release festival' for the Sonoita Vineyards.

Birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, hikers and mountain climbers have hundreds of miles of national forest and wilderness trails to explore. Take an easy day trip to visit Tombstone and then meander through the Mule Mountains to Bisbee 'Queen of the Copper Camps.'
Golf Information: Just 10 miles from Roadrunner Retreat Kino spring is a magnificent gold course nestled below the Patagonia Mountains in the Santa Cruz Valley. This 18 hole gold course begin in tall grasslands, winds through a canyon and end in the same grasslands where it begins. The greens are well maintained. Other courses within a half-hours drive include Country Club of Green Valley, Desert Hills, Haven Country Club and Torres Blancas.
