Canaan house Rental Property Information
This picturesque home is in Canaan, NY and overlooks beautiful Queechy Lake. The main floor features a living room with a stone fireplace and a separate dinning area; large glass windows/doors across both areas look out at the lake. A grand wrap around screened porch includes seating and dinning areas with full view of the lake. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a den with a double-size sleep sofa, and a half bath on the ground floor. The second floor has three bedrooms (one with a private bath), and a second full bath. There are two twin beds, one double and one queen bed. The circa 1900 “cottage” sits on 4.5 acres that rise up from the lake. The main rooms downstairs are fully carpeted and upstairs rooms have hardwood floors. There are period beaded board walls throughout. Medium sized (100 acre), spring fed Queechy Lake boasts great fishing, and is excellent for swimming and small boating. A nearby community beach has a lifeguard. Visit our website. Cultural Activities: Canaan NY is 20 minutes from Tanglewood, Shakespeare and Company, The Mount (Edith Warton’s house and gardens), and Cranwell, all in Lenox. The Barrington Stage Company and the Berkshire Museum are located in nearby Pittsfield. It is an easy drive to Jacob’s Pillow, the Williamstown Theater Festival and Clark Art Museum in Williamstown, MassMoca in North Adams, the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Stockbridge Playhouse, Berkshire Theater Festival, and Chesterwood home/studio of sculptor Daniel Chester French. Two Shaker Museums are within a short drive: Hankcock Shaker Village and The New Lebanon Shaker site at Darrow School. You can dine lakeside in Canaan, or in nearby New Lebanon. We're just minutes from Chatham, Pittsfield, Great Barrington, West Stockbridge, Lee, and Lenox. These towns offer galleries, antique, specialty shops and outlets, along with a variety of good restaurants. Vibrant Hudson NY abounds with contemporary restaurants, galleries and antique shops.

Recreational Activities - Hiking, Golf, Tennis Hike at nearby Beartown State Forest or Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, Mount Graylock, Bish Bash Falls, or on the Appalachian and Mohawk Trails. There are public golf courses in the area and two driving ranges. There are also two community tennis courts in the town of Canaan.
Activities for the Younger at Heart Miniature golf is locally available. In the summer, local ski areas offer an alpine slide, mountain bike trails, water slides, Go Kart tracks and other activities. Younger children can enroll in the Canaan summer recreation program and swimming lessons at the town beach, or children’s programs at the Spencertown Academy or the Wildlife Sanctuary.
Alpine and Cross Country Skiing Ski at nearby Jiminy Peak and Bosquet, or Catamount and Butternut. Or make a day trip to Stratton, Mount Snow or Haystack. Many cross country ski areas are in the region, some less than 10 miles away.
