Our mountain retreat is in the heart of the Valley, just 5 minutes south to golfing and other amenities at Canaan Valley Resort, or eight minutes north to the town of Davis and Blackwater Falls State Park. Special Features of Skiers' View include: 1. Great views of Canaan Valley from cabin-cottage's great room, deck and hot tub area. 2. Home is uniquely decorated with country theme and rustic furniture handmade by local artisans. 3. Upgraded kitchen appliances. 4. Upgraded hot tub with view of Canaan Valley, and interior festive lights for night. 5. Large semi-pro charcoal grill. 6. Near two quaint towns Davis (8 minutes away) and Thomas (15 minutes away). 7. The cabin abuts the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge and is on Manor Ridge, which is in the middle of Canaan Valley.

Canaan Valley is a unique ecosystem. It's like a piece of Vermont was plunked down into West Virginia. It's the highest elevation valley of its size, east of Denver. Summer temperatures are non-humid 70/80s daytime, 50s/60s nighttime. This area is unusually remote for the 'East.' You can hike in gorgeous places for hours and not see a soul - nor a man made structure. The night sky has little light pollution. Wildlife is plentiful. The Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge is habitat to over 150 bird species, a major flyover in the Fall. Other valley attractions include Canaan Valley Resort golfing, Blackwater Falls State Park, the historic towns of Davis and Thomas featuring Mountainmade with its fine arts & crafts , the Purple Fiddle with its unique alt -country music and Whitegrass Cross-country center and Organic Cafe. Other fun nearby includes: Dolly Sods, Monaghahela National Forest, Cathedral State Park (old growth forest), Spruce Knob, and world-class rock climbing at Seneca Rock

So, all in all, eight people can sleep in the bedrooms, plus two people/kids could share the sleeper-sofa in the Great Room (if they are OK with no privacy), or kids or adults could sleep in the carpeted rec-room downstairs, with its own TV, if you bring sleeping bags or air mattresses.

Guests unanimously say, ''it's even better than the pictures!' Great to just get away and relax, have fun with all sorts of out-door adventures in warm and cold weather. Ski in winter, hike, bike and kayak in warm weather. Horseback riding minutes away, world-class rock climbing about 1/2 hour away. Many, many local activities. Great Family Vacation in Canaan Valley or Romantic Getaway in West Virginia

Skiing Information: Downhill skiing only 5 minutes away at Timberline and Canaan Valley Resort. White Grass and Blackwater Falls, for Nordic skiing, about 10 minutes away.
