Very unique house with attached 2 story addition. Fully remodeled in October, 2005. Completely new kitchen. New furnishings. New carpet. House has a 360 degree view wood-burning fireplace for those cozy evenings. Firewood is provided. 45 minutes from Asheville. 25 miles from I-40, exit 86. 3,000 feet above sea level. Near Highway 80, 3 miles off of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Mt. Mitchell. Trout fishing within walking distance. Half-mile to the Famous Mt. Mitchell Golf Course. Cottage has 2 queen log beds and 2 twin beds. Sleeps 6. Fully furnished kitchen. Quiet setting under the Hemlock and Hickory Trees. Cool evening temperatures even during the middle of summer!

Hiking trails for every ability in the Pisgah National Forest. Mt. Mitchell- highest peak east of the Rockies is just a short drive. The Famous Mt. Mitchell Golf Course is 1/2 mile. Wolf Laurel Ski Resort is 45 minutes. Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is 1 hour. Grandfather Mountain-1hour dirve. Linville Caverns-30 minutes.

Golf At Mt. Mitchell The Mt. Mitchell Golf Course is a beauty with incredible views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. The course features bent grass from tee box to green. Cool temperatures during the summer are a welcome escape from the heat of Florida and other southern locations. Even during July, you might start off play in the morning wearing a light sweater or jacket. It quickly warms up as the morning progresses. Greens fees are very reasonable and tee times are easy to come by.

Trout Fishing Right across the street from Haus Garren is the South Toe River. It begins high on the slopes of Mt. Mitchell and holds a lot of trout. There is a fly-fishing only section within walking distance of the cottage. Further downstream you can fish using any type of bait and tackle. A North Carolina fishing license is required and can be purchased at a nearby convenience store.

Hiking/Exploring The Pisgah National Forest has several hiking trails for all abilities. A map of these trails is located in the cottage. Short, one hour hikes and all-day treks are available. Early morning and late evening walks along the cart paths on the Mt. Nitchell Golf Course are popular.

Skiing Information: Home is about 45 minutes drive from Wolf Laurel Ski Slopes and about 1 hour to Sugar Mountain and Ski Beech. We have had many winter guests visit the ski areas during their stay.
