Golf Information: By any measure, Kiawah Island has one of the finest collections of golf courses in the country. Travel and Leisure Golf magazine’s September / October 2006 issue announced Kiawah as the top ranked golf resort in the country, out-polling such noted areas as Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Bandon Dunes and Sea Island. The Ocean Course moved up to number three in Golf Magazines 2006 list of “Top 100 You Can Play”. Readers of Golf Digest in the “Best Places to Play” readers poll awarded near perfect 4 ½ star ratings to Kiawah’s four other golf courses. The Ocean Course received 5 stars--one of only 17 public access courses in the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean to earn such a distinction. At Kiawah , golfers can sample the works of five masters of modern golf course architecture without leaving the island - Pete Dye, Tom Fazio, Clyde Johnston, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player. The result is a collection of golf courses as diverse as the architects themselves. The Ocean Course- a Pete Dye masterpiece - Host Site - 1991 Ryder Cup Matches, 2007 Senior PGA Championship, 2012 PGA Championship Osprey Point - Tom Fazio offers water views from every hole. Oak Point -Clyde Johnson designed this Scottish-American style par-72 course, Cougar Point - A Gary Player designed par-72 championship course Turtle Point - a Jack Nicklaus design with three oceanfront holes.
