Skiing Information: This about an hour drive from the home. Cross country skiing is right in the front of the home! Martock Skiing Mountain is 600 feet high with seven trails including a terrain park and half pipe, 1 quad chairlift, two T-bar lifts and two rope tows. All downhill trails including the terrain park and half pipe are lit for night skiing and snowboarding enjoyment. Cross-country skiing is available during daylight hours. Terrain - The majority of our terrain consists of low to high intermediate with the Buttermilk for beginners and Shane's Solution for experts. Both the terrain park and half pipe are considered expert terrain.. Cross Country Skiing Terrain - Martock offers 5.5 kms of trails twisting and winding through a mixed coniferous and hardwood forest. With 100% of snow making we provide consistent conditions even when Mother Nature cannot. Our skiing surface is machine groomed with one half track set and one half groomed for skate skiing.
Golf Information: Digby's Pines Resort Golf Course is a five minute drive from the home - Digby has been blessed with one of Canada's finest golf courses designed by Stanley Thompson, the famous Canadian architect who was responsible for such world class courses as Banff Springs, Jasper Park and the Highlands Links in Cape Breton. The challenging 18 hole championship layout has a brand new irrigation system this year. The course winds it way through picturesque pine trees and over a winding brook which widens into ponds on holes 2 and 16. The true beauty of Nova Scotia has been captured and retained for your golfing pleasure. When golf writers across Canada were asked to select two of the most picturesque and challenging golf holes in the country, the Pines' par 3 second hole was one of their choices. This often photographed hole has been the scene of many thousands of golf balls splashing in the pond and lots of frustrated golfers. The Toronto Star once ranked our number 7 hole thirteenth in a selection of Canada's toughest eighteen, noting that few golfers ever make par. Back in 1968 our club pro, Nick Nickerson (Bill's father) confessed to a 14 on this hole. Until recently this was a par 6 for ladies however it is now 75 yards shorter and they can play to the same par as the men. So enjoy this piece of golfers heaven and smell the pine needles as you experience a course of which we are very proud.
