Gloucester also hosts a sizable artist population, many of whom can be found on Rocky Neck, the oldest working art colony in America. Some of my favorite things about Gloucester are the beautiful white sand beaches (there are many that fringe the shoreline), refreshing smell of salt air, and her numerous seafood restaurants, but most of all the afternoon light - an artist's paradise. We're a 10 minute walk to Good Harbor Beach (most popular and beautiful beach on Cape Ann.) Bring your paints - take a couple of art classes! Kayaking on the Essex River. Head over to the antique shops of Essex to eat fried clams & boiled lobster 'in the ruff'!' Yumm. Great downtown shopping in Gloucester & Rockport - quaint and unique shops. Visit the many historic sites/ museums in surrounding area. Just relax with a good book and gaze out over the harbor from your deck.
