Chilmark house Rental Property Information

This is a lovely house, looking over Lucy Vincent Beach, Squibnocket and Nomans Island. The water view is wonderful from the deck as well as from the living room, dining area and kitchen, which are all on the first floor. Also on the first floor is a powder room and a small bedroom with bunk beds. The second floor of the house has the master bedroom, which has an even more amazing water view, a third bedroom and a bath. There is a 4th bedroom/family room with full bath on the lowest level of the house. There are new slipcovers and rugs in the living room and dining area, (Please Note-Interior Photos Are Older Ones). The grounds around the house are beautifully landscaped. The house is flanked by a great stone wall that abuts a lovely flower bed. On the west side of the house is a small grove of apple trees and behind the house is a great outdoor shower, enclosed with an old stone floor. There are hydrangea, rhododendron, beach roses and oak trees everywhere.

Please Note-The interior photos do not do the house justice. We have purchased new area rugs, new slipcovers and a charming end table but these will not be put in the house until just before the rental season. There are other small changes (for example, the dining table is being refinished) that also aren't represented on these photos. The house looks welcoming as it is- now imagine the interior with a more 'cottage-y' feel!

The photos also don't capture the view at all well. I guess we are just not good enough photographers. The house is on the top of a high hill. The view is stunning- a straight shot at the wide, blue ocean punctuated by an island and a jutting coast line. Most nights you can hear the waves, a very relaxing way to fall asleep. And although the ocean is near, the house is surrounded by beautiful wooded country- there are almost no houses in the view.

For those of you who don't know Chilmark, the location is fantastic. We are almost in the dead center of Chilmark, close to the best beaches, Beetlebung Corner (the Community Center and tennis courts, Chilmark Store, library, town hall) and the fishing village of Menemsha. Eating 'off the land' is easy, and fun- fresh fish and lobster in Menesha, lamb at the Allen farm, island produce at the farmer's market- all minutes away. No need to go 'down island' but for those who wish to visit the Vineyard's towns, we are in the part of Chilmark that has easiest access to the rest of the island.
