Additional noteworthy amenities: Large gated deck with out door eating area; kitchen has toaster oven, waffle iron, crock pot, mixer, blender; high chair and baby gates, books (good variety), puzzles and games for young and old; rowboat, life jackets (several sizes); nice beach to play in the sand. Please no smoking. Rental period is from 2:00 pm Saturday until 11:00 am Saturday. Winter rental period is negotiable.

Other Helpful Information: A short walk to the public beach. (no life guard) Canoe and Kayak rentals are available nearby....Barnstable County Fair is about 1-2 miles away.... There's a binder at the house chock-full of information to help you plan your stay.... Favorite family fun trips include: a paddle across the river to explore Washburn Island. A sunset trip to Nobska light (1/2 hour scenic drive by car).... Ice Cream at Smitty's or Ben and Bill's Chocolate Emporium, Incredible dining at many places within minutes; Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just because you are craving fried clams.... An afternoon of digging clams (shellfish license available from Falmouth Town Hall) or catching fish (no license is needed for salt-water fishing) followed by a nap on the warm sand..... After you enjoy your stay, please don't forget to sign our guest book.

Some Background: The cottage at 228 Edgewater Drive East, was purchased by Jack and Ruth Tucker in 1962. At that time the house was unheated, rustic, and was on cinder blocks with a crawl space underneath to keep the oars and life jackets. They rented it out all but two weeks each summer that they used with their six children. Jack enjoyed taking his family fishing and clamming. His fishing, though not always successful, was certainly memorable. He made great clam chowder (with a Boston accent-- chowdah). They made improvements on the house as they could, winterized it, and eventually stopped renting it. The six children and their families began managing it in 1990, after Jack's death, and began renting it again. They made some more improvements connecting a downstairs bedroom and play area. It remains the haven that Jack and Ruth intended for family vacations. A place to relax and enjoy the sand, sun, and water.
