Vinalhaven Island house Rental Property Information
This fabulous waterfront home is located on a secluded peninsula of 20 private acres which includes 1,000 feet of direct water frontage. What makes this location so unique are the great waterfront views from every room and that it is only an 5 minute drive to town. This classic Maine home has a fully equipped large open living room with pine floors, open beam ceiling and granite fireplace with wood burning stove, and high speed DSL/Wireless Internet. The bright adjoining kitchen has a cathedral ceiling, track lighting, skylights, small wood stove, modern appliances, wine shelf, working antique coffee grinder, Calphalon cutlery, and Maine cookbooks! From the bedrooms located on the second floor you can take in the spectacular views of Brimstone Island, Sheep Island, and Narrows Island (where you can see and hear the flock of sheep that live on Narrows Island year round).

Some favorite Vinalhaven activities and happenings: Sea Escape Kayak offers lessons, ½ day trips with a picnic lunch, and longer trips for the more experienced kayaker. The Saturday Morning Flea Market features homemade jams, knit sweaters, sweets, and antique treasures. July 4th Parade on Vinalhaven is like small town America 50 years ago with quilts for sale, fresh lobster, face painting, pie throwing booth etc. Breakfast at Donna’s aka Surfside is a favorite of the locals and fishermen. They open at 4:30am and close at 10:00am. Owner Donna is famous for her fishcakes but be sure to get there early; they sell out fast. New Era Gallery typically exhibits Vinalhaven artists and other Maine artists. The Starlight Cafe serves all natural gourmet ice cream, coffee, and sandwiches. Vinalhaven has 3 freshwater granite quarries open for summer swimming. Vinalhaven has many beautiful walking trails such as Lane’s Island Preserve which is accessible by bridge.

Further Details for the house in Maine, USA
Property Details To get the ultimate view climb the spiral staircase to the 3rd story octagonal “lighthouse” tower which offers a 360 view of islands, ocean, and forest. From this birds eye location you will see lobstermen working in the bay, schooners and sailboats, spectacular sunrises, sunsets, and starry night skies and birdwatchers will see hawk, osprey, falcon, eagles, and lots of song birds. The kitchen and living room both have access to a large deck with Adirondack chairs and a stainless steel Webber Grill Master. The yard leading to the waters edge is quite flat and ideal for a volleyball net or a game of boccie ball. This is really the ideal spot to have a cookout or lobster bake!
Property Details On chilly nights toss a log from the wood rack into the stove, grab an extra comforter, and get cozy with a glass of wine, a book, or loved one. When the weather is not cooperating enjoy the library of books, Cd's, DVDs, games, and puzzles or head into town and browse the local shops and galleries, pick up a magazine, newspaper, or postcard at The Paper Store, take a yoga class at Island Fitness, a sea kayak tour, or grab a DVD new release at the Maine Screen Video. The island stays very active right through September with concerts, plays, art openings, lectures, wine tastings, hiking trails, bean suppers (if you are looking for a “real Maine experience”, this is it), wild blueberry, blackberry and raspberry picking, fishing, gourmet dining at The Haven and 64 Main Street, more casual fare at What's Left Restaurant, The Sand Bar, Harbor Gawker, or Trickerville Sandwich Shop. Ideal for an adult couple ( 2 people). Not suitable for families or young children. No pets. No smoking
Other Activities Some of the best sea kayaking in the world
