FAQs: Can I drive onto the island, or do I need to take a ferry? You can drive. Westport Island is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Can I swim there? The shoreline is rocky, but at high tide, you can jump off the big rocks, or you can use the community dock a short walk away. How close to the water is the cottage? A stone's throw (literally)! Is there a beach I can walk to? There is a very small community beach a short walk through the woods.
