Flagler Beach: Simple, Serene, and Spectacular!

Flagler Beach, Florida is a perfect spot for starting out a relaxing Florida vacation. Named after the oil and rail baron Henry Flagler, Flagler Beach boasts over six miles of quiet, uncrowded pristine beaches with unlimited access and no cars allowed on the beach. Flagler Beach is bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by the Intracoastal Waterway.

Flagler Beach is a great spot for sunbathing and for more active endeavors. Swimming, boating, tennis, and golf are all popular pastimes. Anglers can cast their lines from either the Flagler Beach Pier or from any point along the shore, searching for snook, whiting, flounder, redfish, snapper, sheepshead, and tarpon. For surfers, the area around the pier is also the best spot to catch a wave, especially after a storm!

If ecotourism is your thing, check out the Gambles Rogers Memorial State Park. This 144 acre park is packed with opportunities to view the local wildlife in its native habitat. May through September are the prime months for viewing the hatching habits of the Loggerhead turtle. These massive turtles have been hatching their eggs in the area for thousands of years.

Walt Disney World, Epcot, MGM Studios, Sea World, Universal, and all the attractions in the Orlando vicinity are within two hours travel time. Flagler Beach is less than 70 miles south of Jacksonville, about 30 miles south of historic St. Augustine, and 20 miles north of "the most famous beach in the world," Daytona!
