An ever growing city in command of beach beauty and a laid-back atmosphere, San Diego is also overflowing with charm, quirkiness, and fun activities for any kind of traveler. Whether you’re out for family-oriented frivolity or a ladies-only escape, this destination (and the not-too-shabby region that surrounds it) will definitely please the masses.


Aside from the obvious draws (San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Sea World) there’s much more to consider here. Go the adventurous route and take a sailing trip, learn to surf, watch for birds, whales or dolphins and do a little rock climbing in Mission Gorge. If culture is your thing, opt to create your own tour of the city that includes stops at Balboa Park and Old Town. Expand your view and remember that there’s more beyond the city limits. San Diego County contains the likes of Oceanside and La Jolla, and just south of the border is the incomparable Tijuana. Day trips will take you to wineries, mountain resorts and yes, Mexico, so take advantage of your hot location and don’t be afraid to wander a bit.


It might be hard to build up the motivation to stray too far once you’ve settled into your comfortable vacation rental, however.
