Kihei Banishes Boredom from the Island


Although the entire island of Maui is overflowing with spectacularly scenic towns and regions, Kihei stands apart for its wide variety of attractions and activities that are sure to appease everyone in your family.


Located on Maui’s southwest coast between Waikapu and Wailea, Kihei boasts seven miles of picture perfect coastline where you can bask in the breathtaking island beauty. While this is certainly to be expected in the Hawaiian Islands, what you might be surprised to find is the unparalleled excitement of the Kamaole Beach Parks.


Also referred to as the “Kams,” these beaches offer a little bit of everything right outside your Kihei vacation rental. There are excellent swimming conditions and even a slightly wavy area that is popular with boogie boarders and beginner surfers but beyond the ordinary, you can also stave off any vacation boredom by simply heading across the street to sign up for an outbound water adventure (the snorkeling in Maui is unbeatable) or to search for souvenirs at one of the nearby shops.


While the Kams are a spot that all visitors can appreciate, Kihei also features more specialized opportunities that can satisfy your craving for something off the beaten path. Windsurfing at Ohukai Park is perfect if you want to try something new and adventurous, while kayaking along the Kihei Coast offers not only a new perspective on the island, but also an activity that can be enjoyed by all since the waters here are calm and easy to navigate.


Even if good ole relaxation tops your itinerary, Kihei has a spot that can accommodate just about any taste. While beach bums can perfect their tan on the soft, sparkling sands of either Keawakapu Beach or Charley Young Beach, the golf lover in any group can hit the links at the Elleair Maui Golf Club for a round in paradise that is both challenging and visually scenic.
