About New Jersey Vacation Rentals
Sea Isle City, New Jersey is neatly tucked on the southern portion of the Jersey Shore in Cape May County. Noted for its popularity with families who return year after year, Sea Isle is the place to be if you are looking for a vacation in the Atlantic sun. A day's itinerary can include hiking, fishing, beach combing, casino gaming, golf, working on your tan, and other activities related to beach fun. At night, the promenade comes alive with people moving between the many bars and restaurants. Sea Isle City may be small in size, but it packs a big vacation punch.
The Sea Isle beach is a continuous oasis of fun in the sun, stretching for five miles along a flower-covered promenade. The beach has a gentle slope into the water, making it a perfect place to take the little ones for an afternoon dip. Sea Isle has designated beaches for swimming, rafting, kayaking, surfing, volleyball, sailboat launching, and surf fishing. During summer nights under the starry skies, beach goers listen to concerts that take place on the Promenade.
Sea Isle is only about 20 miles south of Atlantic City. 30 million visitors a year come to Atlantic City, most of them to enjoy the many casinos that dot the shoreline. Atlantic City has something for everyone, from upscale casinos like the Trump Taj Mahal to boardwalk eateries selling funnel cakes and Philly steak sandwiches. The wide Atlantic City beach is constantly replenished with sand, giving it a pristine look, and people regularly gather here to watch the lifeguards go through their training exercises.
By contrast, Cape May, at the southern end of the Jersey Shore, is a great place to get away from it all and just enjoy the miles of beaches and the many opportunities for beach combing. Some believe that Cape May is the oldest seaside resort. Excellent birding can be found at Cape May Point State Park, a migratory home for millions of birds each year. Bottle nose dolphins give birth during June in the lower Delaware Bay and they can be seen playing from shore during the summer months. Also in the park is the famous Cape May Lighthouse, which was built in 1859 and is still in operation. While you are beach combing, keep your eye out for Cape May “diamonds,” little stones made of pure quartz that can be shaped and polished into attractive jewelry.
Sea Isle City can serve as a jumping off point to other Jersey Shore attractions. Take a journey to the past while visiting the Sea Isle Historical Museum. Head north to Margate and see Lucy the Elephant, a 65-foot high wooden elephant that is a Jersey Shore landmark. Stroll along the beaches of Wildwood, one of the only beaches on the East Coast that is actually growing. Take a ride on the Delta Lady, a Mississippi River boat that travels around Cape May. Visit the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary, a 20-acre haven for over 150 avian species. Golf at the Sand Barrens Golf Course in Swainton. Sea Isle is fun in the Atlantic sun for the entire family.
