About Missouri Vacation Rentals

Central Missouri is a year-round festival for those seeking a relaxing vacation. With a mixture of historical attractions, big city living, small town flair, and plenty of outdoor activities, Central Missouri has everything one could ask for in a vacation destination. A day's itinerary can include hiking, caving, fishing, swimming, sailing, golf, shopping for hand-made souvenirs, or taking a drive along one of the most famous roads in America.

If it's outdoor fun you seek, you can't find a better place than the Lake of the Ozarks. The Lake, when first built, was the largest man-made lake in the world, fed by the Osage, Glaize, and Niangua Rivers. The Lake of the Ozarks offers 1,150 miles of shoreline winding through scenic Ozark hills. Anglers will be giddy over the ample stock of largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, stripers, and catfish that roam the waters. A Lake of the Ozarks vacation also offers an astounding array of swimming, parasailing, sailing, and kayaking opportunities. Osage Beach has all the amenities of a beach town and is a great place to soak up some sun or enjoy a great meal as you watch the many terns, herons, hummingbirds, robins, bobwhites, whippoorwills, cardinals, blue jays, and wood thrushes scamper about the lake.

Missouri has over 5,000 caves and this simple fact has earned Missouri the moniker, “the Cave State.” From advanced spelunkers to tour guided excursions, caving is a popular pastime in the Show Me State. Jacob's Cave, Ozark Caverns, and Bridal Cave are all located in the Lake of the Ozarks area, and they offer wonderful chances to check out the local subterranean environment.

More outdoor fun can be found on the Katy Trail State Park, which runs over 225 miles from St. Charles to Clinton. The trail is built on the former corridor of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) Railroad (better known as the Katy) and hiking, bicycling, nature exploration, and historical site hunting are all wildly popular on the trail. In 1995, a 165-mile portion of the trail was designated as an official segment of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail by the U.S. Department of Interior National Park Service. The designated segment parallels the Missouri River from Machens to Boonville and was part of the route traveled by the famous explorers.

For a glimpse back in time, be sure to visit the scenic community of Sedalia. From the tree lined boulevards to the historic Downtown Business District, Sedalia's past is alive and well for all to see. If shopping is your recreation, Sedalia is lined with shops selling antique jewelry, vintage clothing, and hand-crafted carvings and eclectic boutiques offering everything from modern fashion art deco curiosities. Each June, at the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival, Sedalia honors the music of Scott Joplin, the famous musician who composed "the Maple Leaf Rag" while living in Sedalia. Sedalia is also home to the Missouri State Fair each August.
