Tangled Up In Blue (TUIB) is a fully furnished, luxury home, located right on the beach on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. Everything you need for a relaxing and adventurous vacation is right here.
There is plenty of room for relatives in this house that sleeps 14 with two master bedrooms. Five bedrooms face the ocean and have sliding door access to the decks. A private swimming pool and large hot tub are also included. TUIB is located in Carova Beach -- two-thirds of a mile south of the Virginia/North Carolina border. There are no roads that go to Carova Beach; you must drive on the beach for about 11 miles to get there. Four-wheel drive vehicles are strongly recommended. The paved road ends in Corolla, NC, which is the closest town. Corolla is a typical North Carolina beach resort town with plenty of shopping and things to do.
The surrounding area is still mostly undeveloped, so you'll enjoy uncommon privacy and uncrowded beaches.

The big, wide, clean beach is beautiful -- and it's a great swimming beach. It's also great for fishing, kayaking, wave running, surfing (board and body), shelling, walking/running, sunning, and watching for dolphins. There are no life guards. People tend to swim in the ocean from mid-May to mid-October. The swimming pool is available May 15 to October 15. The hot tub is always available.
The closest commercial airport and major town is Norfolk, VA which is about 85 miles away -- about a two-hour drive. You can rent four-wheel drive vehicles at most rental agencies there. A Ford Explorer or Jeep Grand Cherokee will rent for between $400 to $500 a week, depending on the season. It's a good idea to reserve such a vehicle in advance, because they are very popular. Four-wheel drives can also be rented in the Corolla area; but they are more difficult to find and more expensive there.
