Website Being Updated Daily, Check Back Vacationers searching the Web might overlook BayShore Cottage because of its location just north of Cape Cod. Those 'in the know' already realize that Cape Cod traffic has become horrendous at times -- an excellent reason to stay just a few miles away in the verdant coastal area with the same features but much lovelier terrain. Entering through the pleasant breezeway, you'll see the breathtaking view sweeping from Plymouth Harbor to your left, to the Gurnet Lighthouse across the water, all the way to Provincetown as you turn east. Enjoy the spectacles of vivid sunsets over the water and at night, the twinkling lights of Plymouth, and the streak of light from the lighthouse across Plymouth Bay. The breezeway has an overhead lighted cupola, which sheds a gentle light on your easygoing conversation or grilling while you watch the incredible sunsets over the water.
Website Being Updated Daily Stepping inside the open-plan cottage, you'll enter the Great Room with its 14-foot stone fireplace, timber trusses, and barnwood-planked ceiling. Attractively decorated with slip-covered furniture from Crate and Barrel, the Great Room has wide pine floors with forged nails, antique cupboards with beveled-mirror doors (reflecting the ocean view.) The kitchen runs the length of the great room and has a 14-foot long mahogany topped island with two undermount sinks/Grohe faucets, dishwasher, and a convection oven allowing the cook (or master of canapes) to be a part of the family gathering while enjoying the wraparound view. The refrigerator has an icemaker with tasty ice because our water is so good here. The fireplace is flanked with massive antique Ottoman doors, brought back from Cyprus, which divide the Great Room from the master bedroom. This area has a vaulted ceiling, raised sleeping alcove that juts out toward the ocean, has a queen-size four-poster British West Indies bed.
Here, posts and beams create a jewel box with ocean views all around. The high windows let you peer at starlight high above the Atlantic. The bedroom's French doors open onto the wraparound mahogany deck that connects around the lodge to the Great Room and kitchen. This newly renovated cottage has two full baths - one upstairs with a mahogany countertop, vessel sink, Grohe faucet, marble shower with pebble floor, and skylights above the shower and toilet. The other bathroom has a shower, antique pedestal sink, stone walls, and separate toilet alcove and roomy walk in closet. Three sides of the cottage have walls of French doors, which open to the roomy deck. The open floor plan can accommodate four in beds plus two+ little people in the bunk room with three distinctly separate sleeping areas. The lower level suite of rooms includes a den/sleeping area, laundry, bathroom, and an additional 'bunk room' behind a sliding barn door.
Skiing Information: This lodge is heated by its two fireplaces, which burn constantly throughout the winter, warming the dramatic space, and lighting the rooms with warm firelight. If you are looking for a getaway in the dreary winter months and would be content to tuck in to a gorgeous, fireside nirvana with ocean views, this is your place. Sightseeing: Just a few miles north is the historic town of Plymo uth, with Plymouth Rock, Plimoth Plantation (like a trip in a time-machine trip to 1620) antique shops, fish r estaurants, lobster fleet, whale-watching, and deep sea fishing cruises. Plymouth Long Beach is just minutes away for your sandy beach hours. BayShore Mini Lodge sits on one of the few short stretches of rocky beach, where the giant rounded boulders remind you of Maine, and fishermen can make a catch from the shore in a matter of minutes. Lobstermen putter past pulling up their cages full of tasty catch. Cape Cod is 10 miles to the South.
Golf Information: This area has a brick fireplace with Jotul gas insert, beach stone walls, light sisal-style carpet, cable TV, front loading laundry, and an attractive bathroom. The lower rooms are accessed by the bright stairway, as well as by the spiral stairs. The lower rooms do not have ocean views. We offer a unique third bedroom: A roomy Eddie Bauer tent placed a few feet from the cottage on the grassy bluff. (Imagine 'camping' with a stunning ocean view and still being able to use chic indoor bathrooms.) Huge 60-year-old rhododendrons embrace the cottage. The level bluff above the water is memorable spot for croquet, frisbee, sunbathing, and relaxation. See 4th of July fireworks (as well as firework displays on some other summer days) as they explode over Plymouth harbor. This little oceanfront lodge, besides being ideal for summer vacationing, has an exciting fall and winter aspect.
Guest Book Just over the Sagamore Bridge is S andwich (one of the Cape's most charming towns) with its glass museum, Heritage Plantation, antique shops, hist oric homes, an d restaurants like the Beehive Tavern and the Sagamore Inn. Your daytrips to the Cape can end back home at BayShore Cottage where you will be free from the traffic backups from vacationers exiting their weekly rentals and weekend homes. If you want a tas te of the big city, you can drive or take a train an easy 40 miles into Boston, where there are concerts, plays, shopping, and sites to satisfy all ages and interests. The commuter rail can take your teens into Boston's popular Back Bay wi th Newbury Street's fascinating shops. Or go to Harvard Square in Cambridge, a lively fusion of culture, education, and exciting shops and boo kstores. A short drive to New Bedford's whaling museum and Newport's grand mansions make fascinating day trips. I n nearby Carver there are cranberry bogs and beautiful scenery.
