'Stayed at Andrews home and it's exactly as he's described it. It's got a beautiful view from the deck and is a fabulous home. We loved it! 'Doug, Mnpls. My 1930 Mediterranean house sits in the hills of El Cerrito overlooking the entire San Francisco Bay, directly opposite the Golden Gate Bridge as you can see in the panorama on my website. A quiet retreat in the East Bay, it is only a half hour drive from downtown San Francisco and all the city has to offer. If you prefer, the safe, clean and convenient Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system station is just a ten minute walk away, as is the Express bus stop for downtown San Francisco. The BART station is also by El Cerrito Plaza - a new, well designed mall with grocery stores (including Trader Joe's!), video and book stores, restaurants and cafes. If you are working or vacationing in the Bay area, El Cerrito provides an ideal centralized location.

Enter through a wooden gate into my serene private front garden. Inspired by Oriental landscaping you can relax on the slate and redwood terracing. Listen to the wind in the bamboo or the trickle of the fountain in the pond. This is a perfect warm weather spot for sunny morning coffee, or soothing afternoon shade. The cool tiled entry hall with its English Art Deco Chinoiserie lantern leads into the morning room. Relax and enjoy the morning sun and views of the garden through the arched windows. The ceiling light in this room is French Art Deco and the wall lights are original to the house. If you enjoy entertaining then the dining room with its stylish original Art Deco table which folds out to comfortably seat 6 and the Italian dining chairs will serve you well. The kitchen features a gas JennAir® stovetop with electric convection oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and - as I enjoy cooking and entertaining - every convenience and appliance you could wish for. Now enter the newly built spacious living room with its tall ceiling and wall of windows framing the San Francisco Bay. A bistro table with chairs provides an ideal spot for breakfast or any casual meal. Comfortable seating, large screen TV, DVD and VCR plus a gas flamed fireplace mean that summer and winter you can enjoy magnificent views or the best in entertainment from the comfort of your own space. The Golden Gate Bridge lies directly across the water and at certain times of the year the sun sets directly behind it. To the right is beautiful Mount Tamalpais with its wooded slopes and breathtaking views. Open the French Doors and relax on the large slate floored deck. The stainless steel cabled railing, inspired by marine designs, leaves the view stunningly unobstructed.

Stairs lead down to the laundry room and the spacious rear garden In the main bedroom overlooking the garden you will enjoy a plush queen size bed, restful nights and birdsong in the morning. The second bedroom I use as my office. Should you need to work there is plentiful desk space with computer and internet connections. For a break watch the squirrels chasing each other along the fence and through the trees just outside the window. There is a double Murphy bed which folds down to provide a comfortable night's sleep. Both bedrooms have ample closet space and an antique chest of drawers in each. They are separated by the bathroom which I have restored to its original Deco condition. It has a lovely deep original tub, and shower. MY HOME IS DESIGNED AND ENJOYED WITH LOVE AND CARE AND I AM LOOKING ONLY FOR RENTERS WHO WILL RESPECT THAT.
