Located next to Balgove Cottage. The accommodation is at first floor level. Stairs to first floor landing. Fine views to Eden estuary. To find: About three quarters of a mile from the outskirts of St Andrews on the A91, the turning to Balgove is on the west side of the road. Approaching the turning from St Andrews there is a road sign indicating a double bend immediately followed by a sign indicating a concealed exit to the left. At the turning there is also a footpath/right of way sign showing the route to Strahtkinness. Approaching from the other direction, there are similar signs, viz double bend and concealed exit to the right. Turn off the main road and follow the farm road for about a mile keeping straight ahead at the first track interstection. At the top of the hill, the road forks. Fork left and through the gate to Edenview. Parking and entrance is immediately to the right.

Golf Information: The development in golf on the St Andrews Links over the past 150 years has been in no small part thanks to the Cheape family of Strathtyrum. Today the association with the past is perpetuated by names such as 'Cheape's', the bunker on the 12th and 17th fairway of the Old Course, and the 'Strathtyrum' course which was laid out on land sold by the late Mrs Gladys Cheape in 1986. It is also a fact that the Farmhouse lies closer to more holes on the Old Course than the R&A clubhouse itself! The practice grounds lie within a few minutes walk. Apparently, toward the end of the 18th century, the managers of the links were incapable of discussing even trivial affairs without the aid of wine, punch and strong liquor! Thus it was necessary to rescue the links from both drunken and incompetent counsellors and rabbit farming: and as golfers will testify, rabbits are not good for golf links! So, in 1821, James Cheape purchased the St Andrews Links: an act of perspicacious genius, and one that should be hailed by all golfers as they travail around the links. How much more pleasure we derive from the game of golf than from the doubtful business of rearing rabbits! Today the opportunities for playing golf in and around St Andrews are limitless! Quite apart from the 7 courses under the management of St Andrews Links Trust, other courses such as KIngsbarns, Carnoustie, Crail and Elie, to name but a few, are within half an hour's drive.
