Impeccably restored romantic country house set in magnificent countryside, 40 kilometres south of Siena. You will be completely private here, and not have to share anything with anyone. The house has been lovingly restored by its artist owner to an extremely high standard, whilst maintaining its simplicity and grace. It is completely private, set in acres of its own gardens and olive groves, and is a mile from the nearest village. It has breathtaking views on all sides. The house is very romantic and full of light. It is surrounded by fruit trees, lawns and terraced olive groves that lead down to a beautifully landscaped 14 metre pool. The house has antique furniture, paintings, waxed terracotta floors, golden beams, extremely comfortable beds and beautiful white linen.

Poggio Boldrini is situated one and a half miles from the village of San Giovanni d'Asso, in the heart of the beautiful Crete Senesi. It is 35 minutes drive from Siena, and about an hour and a half to central Florence. Rome is 2 hours drive, and Pisa airport is about 2.5 hours drive from the house.

  • The master bedroom has a private dressing room, and all bathrooms have quality bathroom fittings. The bedrooms have very comfortable fine quality beds and white linen supplied. There is a cot available if you need it. In autumn there is extremely effective underfloor heating, throughout the house, making it really lovely and cosy, should it get cool. The property is now ecologically heated and cooled by a brand new ground source energy system and photovoltaic panels (you don't need to know this, but it is kind of nice to know that you are not burning up the planet).

Notes:

The house has an arcaded loggia and a wonderful walled terrace with a fire-pit. There is also a music room /library with a piano. The rooms are furnished in the main with antique Italian furniture. There is under-floor heating throughout the house which keeps it really warm even in the depths of winter. There is a cottage in the grounds where a either we, or a caretaker will be staying, so if you need any help there will be someone on-site who can sort things out. However you will have complete privacy, as the cottage is completely self contained and well away from the house. The pool is normally open from mid May until mid September, depending on the weather, and is cleaned twice a week. We do have cats, that occasionally are in the house when we are in it ourselves, just in case you are allergic to them. We recommend anyone hiring a car, chooses something with good clearance, as the approach road to the house although in good condition is a gravel one.
