The Barn Sleeps 6 Traditionally, the barn had a dual purpose, for the drying of tobacco (still an important crop in the area) and for feeding cows. The cattle bays have been completely restored, and retain the original oak framed feeding troughs and illuminated with concealed lighting. This hallway leads to:- Three double bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and large tiled en-suite shower rooms each with marble topped vanity units and w.c.`s. The large kitchen/dining room is fitted with oak units and tiled work surfaces. There is a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, split level oven and hob, round ship’s dining table and chairs - and a sofa for comfortable reading! A door leads from the kitchen on to a spacious tiled patio/terrace, bordered by pots of hanging geraniums. There is a table, chairs, parasol, barbecue and outside lighting.

  • MONDOUNET GITES ESTABLISHED IN 1989
    Until 1987 we lived in Portsmouth, U.K., leading hectic lives and enjoying the everyday challenges of our prospective jobs. We treasured our escape to France every year, discovering another part of this great country. In the summer of 1988 We looked at properties in the Dordogne but nothing matched up to our ideas, so we drove, with our daughter, south to Cahors in the Lot Valley to see the magnificent Pont Valentre (medieval bridge over the river Lot). The Lot is known as the gateway to the south with a climate appreciably better than its neighbour. We were captivated by the champagne coloured houses, hilltop medieval villages and our first taste of the superb Cahors wine. WE FOUND OUR DREAM.....
    What an idyllic setting for the 17th century farmhouse and outbuildings, set up on the hill, overlooking two valleys. There was nearly a hectare of land (about 2 acres) - a large stone barn, bread oven and stable, exactly what we were looking for.
  • Restoration and conversions were carried out and the following year we were able to open our doors to our first holiday guests .....and now after 20 years we still believe that moving to this beautiful part of S.W.France was the best decision we ever made. Over the years we have worked hard improving the accommodation and grounds:
    OUR GITES: The Bread Oven; Stable; Farmhouse and Barn have been enlarged, central heating installed, new bathrooms and shower rooms. The gardens look splendid with many beautiful pots and hanging baskets. A real picture.
    The pool is heated from spring to the end of October. We have poolside barbecues with entertainment and music. There is badminton/table tennis/boules
    NEW FOR 2009:
    OUR FARMHOUSE IS UNDERGOING MAJOR RECONSTRUCTION AND WILL HAVE A NEW FITTED KITCHEN WITH DINING AREA, OPEN PLAN TO THE LIVING ROOM WHICH WILL LEAD OUT ON TO A BALCONY
    PLUS STAIRS LEADING DOWN TO THE GROUND FLOOR

TUSCANY OF FRANCE SPLENDID 17th C TRADITIONAL QUERCY. FARMHOUSE *BARN * STABLE * BREAD OVEN. Established since 1989. IN THE BEAUTIFUL TUSCANY OF FRANCE. We're located in the peaceful Lot countryside but close to all amenities. West of the busting town of Cahors and near the lively medieval village of Montcuq. SUPERB SWIMMING POOL. HEATED FROM EARLY SPRING TO THE END OF OCTOBER. Now fenced for added security. You can relax, explore and discover our little bit of paradise – you’ll have a wonderful time. The locals here have a really unique heritage and their traditional warm welcome will add to the enjoyment of your stay. When you arrive we’ll be pleased to offer you a litre of our good Cahors wine and an aperitif to welcome you to Mondounet.

ENTERTAINMENT you may like to join us for a POOLSIDE BARBECUE WITH ENTERTAINMENT Each holiday home is full of character, comfortable, private and individual and has the advantage of its own garden/terrace. The superb heated swimming pool is much appreciated by our guests – and it's open from early Spring until the end of October. In two acres of grounds you can enjoy your own privacy and have company when you wish. Whilst you are here and if in the mood, there's lots more to see including the lavender farm which is 5 minutes drive along our valley and a short distance from us is the GROTTE DE ROLAND– VERY INTERESTING CAVES TO VIST…… We can recommend lots of good restaurants, all prices, from the local cafes to Michelin star rated for that special occasion - we'll be pleased to book for you. Plus you can join in the local village fetes - dining, dancing the night away with the locals - not to be missed!

EASY TRAVELLING TO US This is a really beautiful region with lots to see and do - or you can lie back on a lounger beside the pool, leave stress behind and relax in a lovely setting for a wonderful holiday. If you plan to travel leisurely through France, we will be pleased to help you plan your route and to book an overnight stop, please let us know. When booking we can give you more information on how to obtain reduced ferry and tunnel fares. If you decide to fly/drive, budget airlines are Ryanair, Easyjet and Flybe and often you can get good deals with British Airways - nearest airports are Toulouse and Bergerac - approx 1 1/4 hours drive from us. Rodez and Bordeaux are about 2 hours drive. You'll find the roads so good here and traffic minimal, so really easy driving.

Golf Information: The GOLF DE ROUCOUS IS ONLY A SHORT DRIVE FROM US.
