Maison des Fontaines is a stone house of approximately 2,500 square feet, built in 1793 and recently restored, with ancient doors, exposed beam ceilings, red tile floors and handsome new and antique furniture. Located on the edge of the village next to vineyards, it's a short walk to the boulangerie for excellent baguette and croissants. The house can accommodate up to eight people. Upstairs, the large master bedroom features a double bed and an en suite bathroom. An adjoining bedroom has a double canopy bed, and a third bedroom has two twin beds; these share a full bath with separate WC. On the ground floor is a large, comfortably furnished salon that features a fireplace and a stereo system with radio, cassette, and CD player. A sitting room on the ground floor has a sofa bed that folds out into a double bed. There's a telephone with free local calling. Guests may use their phone cards to call long distance. Vacqueyras is a historic village at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail in the Vaucluse region of Provence. It is well known for its wine and for Raimbaut de Vacqueyras, a 12th century troubadour. Guests will will appreciate our location, close to Mt. Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail. The location is perfect for touring the 'sites' of the northern Vaucluse. Historic Vaison-la-Romaine, Orange, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Avignon are all within a half hour’s drive. Several other renowned winemaking villages are within a few minutes drive, including Gigondas, Sablet, Seguret and Beaumes-de-Venise. br br The house is also ideally located for day trips to the Isle sur la Sorgue, the Abbey de Senaque, Gordes, Roussillon, Lubéron, St-Rémy-de-Provence, Arles, Les Baux-de-Provence, Nîmes and the Gorges de l’Ardèche.

There is a table that seats eight, a gas stove, refrigerator, conventional, and microwave ovens. A washing machine, dryer, iron, and ironing board are in the basement. Outdoors is a garden shaded by trees and bamboo with barbecue and patio furniture for relaxing and dining al fresco. It's just a few steps from the house into the village for fresh bread or out into the vines for quiet walks. Vacqueyras is a quiet little village located in the heart of the Rhone Valley. A wine-making town of about 800 inhabitants, Vacqueyras has a boulangerie, small grocery store, produce store, two cafes, a post office, and a pharmacy. Vacqueyras produces an excellent full-bodied red wine that was awarded its own AOC designation in 1989. Other well known attractions nearby include Chateauneuf des Papes, Gigondas, Beaumes des Venise, and Cairanne. Tavel, Lirac, Cotes Rotie, Cornas, and Tain Hermitage are all within an hour's drive.
Each day there are wonderful outdoor markets in different towns nearby with an incredible assortment of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and fish... much of it from local producers. There is a wealth of interesting places to visit nearby including Avignon with its Palais des Papes, the Roman ruins at Vaison-la-Romaine, Orange, Carpentras, and the Pont du Gard. Visit the underground caverns at Le Thor and the Fontaine de Vaucluse. There are hiking and biking trails below the spectacular rock formations of les Dentelles de Montmirail just to the east. Kayaking and swimming on the Gard and Ardeche rivers. Nimes, Arles, Aix en Provence are all within reach as are Les Baux and the Camargue region.
